Woodlawn Family Bible Study

Tuesday

BIBLE READING:  Deuteronomy 10:12 & 2 Timothy 2:22

MAIN IDEA:  How do we grow a tender heart in a calloused world?

DISCUSSION

Part 1 - Put God first in our lives.

Most of us had parents who taught us right from wrong, maybe even taught us from the Bible. Some had “going to church” a part of family life. Not all were equally blessed in this area.  Each of us has different strengths and weaknesses, different environments we work in or live in. This is not an excuse for sin in our life, wrong choices cause that. God always gives us a way to not sin.

1 Corinthians 10:13 The only temptations that you have are the same temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to endure it.
  •      We have to do things to prove we love God.

Deuteronomy 10:12  And now, Israel, what does Jehovah your God ask of you, but to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

  • ·   Talk to God, think about Gods love and His plan for you, and put God first in your life. He is always there for you if you don’t leave Him.

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Jehovah, my Rock and my Redeemer.

  • ·    If you do these things you will help yourself to have a more tender heart and the love of God will be in your heart.

2 Timothy 2:22 But flee youthful lusts, and follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

APPLICATION: Don’t let your life be so crowded you can’t find time to meditate. Commit yourself to meditation on God’s word.
