BIBLE READING:  Philippians 4:8,9

MAIN IDEA:  “Slow down and think before you make a choice you will regret”

DISCUSSION
A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean; she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap." Her husband looks on, remaining silent. Every time her neighbor hangs her wash to dry, the young woman makes the same comments. A month later the woman is surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and says to her husband: “Look, she finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this.” The husband replies, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”
And so it is with life....her neighbor hangs her wash to dry, the young woman makes the same comments. A month later, the woman is surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and says to her husband: "Look, she's finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this? " The husband replies, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows." And so it is with life... What we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we lookWhat we see when watching others depends how clean our window is.
Are you seeing the world through a window that needs cleaning? Every choice you have made in life was the product of your thinking. It is ones thinking that governs the choices we make every day. Choices about what to do and how to do it become ones actions.  (Remember even though people don’t see what you think, they do see your actions) –Actions will produce both good or bad results, and over time a reputation.
We are limited in the control of what choices we have to make, but, we can control how we make the choice.  The choices we make today, will define who we are tomorrow.
Paul tells us in Philippians 4, if we think on good things we will practice good things. We must control what we allow into our minds. It seems that it is human nature to justify our choices, in some cases regardless of right or wrong.
Control your temper, never give up being a Christian, believe that persecution makes you stronger, remember that a Christian family requires, (God first, patience, and an attitude of “we” not” me"), Gods plan is more precious than any earthly treasure when you know it and do it. Follow Paul’s advice think on good things and make good choices.

APPLICATION
Are there changes you need to make as a family to help insure you think on good things?
