BIBLE READING: Galatians 6:1,2

MAIN IDEA:  “How do we grow a tender heart in a calloused world?”

DISCUSSION

Part 3- Choose your friends wisely.

How much influence do friends have on our lives? It would be wise to choose these people carefully.  They will influence you a lot.

Most people believe a true friend is someone who accepts them as they are. That can be very dangerous to believe. It sounds good but it is so wrong to believe.

Accepting you for who you are is what most people you don’t even know do.

A true friend holds you to a higher standard.
A true friend brings out the best in you.
Paul tells us in Galatians 6:1, 2- (ESV) Brothers and sisters, someone in your group might do something wrong. You who are following the Spirit should go to the one who is sinning. Help make that person right again, and do it in a gentle way. But be careful, because you might be tempted to sin too. Help each other with your troubles. When you do this, you are obeying the law of Christ.

When we fail to say something, either through our actions or verbally, we are giving silent approval to the wrong done.

You are not being a true friend if you don’t encourage each other to be their best.    Remember, friendship is a two way street and like marriage, is not always 50/50.

APPLICATION:
Take a few minutes to see what struggles others in your home might have. Then discuss ways in which you can help each other or each other’s friend in need.
