“ Wisdom”
Today we have access to an endless
knowledge at the click of a mouse, yet that knowledge does us no good if we
don’t know how to use it. Auto maker
Henry Ford asked electrical genius Charlie Steinmetz to build the generators
for his factory. One day the generators ground to a halt, and the repairmen
couldn’t find the problem; So, Ford called Steinmetz, who tinkered with the
machines for a few hours and then threw the switch. The generators whirred to
life-but Ford got a bill for $10,000 from Steinmetz. Flabbergasted, the rather
tightfisted car maker inquired why the bill was so big; Steinmetz’s reply: For
tinkering with the generators, $10. For knowing where to tinker, $9,990. Ford
paid the bill.
Although Charlie Steinmetz tried,
you really can’t place a value on wisdom.
The Word of God offers us all the knowledge that we will ever need, to
not only survive this life, but prepare for the next; Yet many of us simply
don’t have the wisdom to use it correctly.
James lets us know that wisdom is not as hard to get as one may
think. If you lack wisdom, just ask God
for it! However, when you ask…you ask in
faith. That means, when you ask, be
prepared to use it. For us to ask in
faith implies that we are ready and willing to receive the gift of wisdom
because we have been desperately seeking it within His Word. Do you lack wisdom? Ask God, go to His word and He will show it
to you!
