“Before the Throne of God”

BIBLE READING: Revelation 7
While John’s vision paints the picture of suffering, persecution and pain that was attributed to seals two through six, the seventh seal would bring protection and safety to the suffering saints.  The number of 144,000 (12,000 from every tribe of Israel) is not the exact number, but represents complete and fullness of those Jewish Christians that survived the great “tribulation” of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.  In addition to those Jewish Christians that were saved is listed a larger group made up of people from every nation whose number could not be counted.  These represent those Gentiles that had become Christians as well as those who are still coming to know Jesus today.  This reassures us that even during all the persecution and suffering that may plague this world, God will take care of His own.  May we all long for that day when we are before the Throne of God having the opportunity to “serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:15-17)
