Thursday, "No Multiple Choice for Eternity"
BIBLE
READING: Luke 18. 18
Some people are used to
multiple-choice tests. Certain questions do have more than one answer, while
some do not. In the field of religion, many feel that there are multiple
answers to the above question asked by this “certain ruler.”
Let’s notice: Could the answer be…..
1) Do Your Own Thing
— The humanist philosophy promotes this idea since every man is his own god.
Beware! These undermining heresies are being taught in our schools, our
colleges and in many, many churches in our country. They are also being taught
in too many Bible classes.
2) Follow Men’s Doctrines
— The plural “men’s” is used to emphasize the plurality of doctrines, all
claiming to be “of God,” but which are, in fact, contradictory to the Bible and
each other!
3) Obey The Gospel Of Christ
— If Christ is to judge us (John
12:48). If His Word leads us to salvation
(Romans
1:16). If we do not obey the gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ, we will be punished with everlasting destruction from
the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power (2
Thessalonians 1:6-9). If the engrafted
Word is able to save our souls (James
1:21-NKJV).
We are now faced with the above three
multiple choice answers. Which is the correct answer in order to be saved from
our sins? The obvious choice is the third choice — God’s choice — Obey The
Gospel Of Christ (Romans
1:5; Romans
6:16-17; Romans
16:25-26-NKJV).
As strange as it may seem, there are
many folks who cannot (or will not) see the impossibility of trying to please
man and God at the same time (multiple choice 1 and 2).
Paul teaches us in the letter to the
brethren in Galatia:
“Do not be deceived, God is not
mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his
flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of
the Spirit reap everlasting life” (Gal.
6:7-8).
We will either obey God’s salvation
plan and be saved, or we will reject His salvation plan and be lost (Romans
2:1-13). We have no multiple choice for
eternity.
