“Praise the Lord”

BIBLE READING: Psalms 145-150

The last of all the Psalms of David contains only six short verses that only make up 74 words in the English Standard Version of our Bibles.  However, what the psalm lacks in length, it makes up for in power.  The word “praise” is listed 13 times out of the 74 total words, that means almost 18% of this psalm is contained in the word “praise”.  The word means “to shine, to make a show, to boast, to rave, to have a cause to celebrate”.  As you can see, that one word contains a wealth of emotion and passion.  What could possibly be the cause to make such a to-do about?  As David closes the book of Psalms, he lets us know that the only thing worthy of such glory, praise and honor is the LORD.   It is God who gives us reason to shine.  It is God who gives us reason to boast. It is God who causes us to celebrate.  Today, make a special effort to show your praise to God.  It might be thanking Him for His good gifts or bragging to others just how special He is to you.  In doing so, you will be blessed, others will be made aware and God…He will be Praised!                                                                                                                                                                          MH
