“No One Knows Me Like HIM”
Just for a moment, try
to imagine the number of people who know who you are. I’m not talking about your number of Facebook
friends or Instagram followers; I mean people that actually know you. They know your favorite color, your dream
car, your goals in life and your weaknesses.
If you are like me, the number isn’t as big as you once thought. As I think about those who know me, the
number is very small. Even with our
closest of friends we have a wall that allows them to see who we want them to
see. The number of those individuals in
our lives in which there is no wall, may… just be one…God. He is the only one who knew us before we were
born. Think of that for just a moment.
God knew us even before we could be known by anyone else. In fact, Psalm 139 tells us that He “formed
our inward parts”, He “knitted me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm
139.13). He was able to set His eyes on
us even when we were an “unformed substance”.
He knows the words we will speak, even before they enter our thoughts (Psalm
139.4). When it comes to God, there is
no wall that we can build around ourselves.
It is impossible for us to project an appearance that might hide our
flaws and mishaps, to make Him think we are something we are not; yet He still
loves us. There is nowhere that we can
go to hide ourselves from His presence (Psalm 139.7-9). May our prayer be the same as David’s as he
writes “Search me O God and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!”
