“Hiding from God”

Do you ever hide from God? Sounds kind of crazy doesn't it?  As teenagers, we may have "hid" a lot of things. We may even "hide" things today.  When God walked through the garden looking for Adam and Eve after their sin, the bible says they hid from God. He called for them, even though he knew where they were, he still called for them and allowed them the opportunity to reveal themselves.  Before their sin, they had no reason to hide from God. It would never have entered their minds.  If we have the mentality of "hiding" something in our lives, then we most likely do not need to engage in that activity.  Now, we can hide things from our parents, from our friends, our spouse, and even our minister. However, God is omniscient, meaning he knows all.  Who do we think we are fooling?  We are most effective, most happy, and most productive when we live open lives, obedient to God. Not perfect but forgiven and doing our best to obey Gods Word. Hebrews 4:13 says "And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." I have often thought how it would be if we could read minds, or if, like a cartoon, little bubbles pop above our head with our thoughts, words, or actions.  Well, it does to God. So, let’s think about that.  Dr. David Jeremiah asks the question, "Are you running from the Lord and hiding out in any of these places—or other places only you (and the Lord) know about? Don’t forget: There are no hideouts or hideaways God does not know about. You will eventually come face-to-face with Him at a time and in a place you least expect. Be a follower, not a fugitive. Run to the Lord, not away from the Lord. Hide in the Lord, not from the Lord. When the Lord sees you next, may He see your face, not your back.

Action Item:  Think of something that is hidden in your life, pray about it, and make amends
