SUNDAY
BIBLE
READING: Luke 17:20-18.1-8
MAIN
IDEA:
“In the Midst of You”
DISCUSSION:
This morning the lesson was
taken from the parable of the Persistent Widow in Luke 18. As we discussed, the context was centered on
the questioning of the Pharisees concerning the coming of the Kingdom.
Jesus answered the question by saying “the kingdom of God is in the midst of you”. Try to imagine what it would be like to have Jesus actually living with you. Try to imagine what it would be like to have Him watch the game, or your favorite movie with you. Imagine what it would be like to have Him sit at the table and share a meal with you and your family. Would you do your best to avoid Him? Would you clear your schedule that evening to have some long talks about your day, or would you try to stay away from Him? Just because we do not physically see Jesus with us during our day, does not mean He is not there.

APPLICATION:
Discuss how your day might be
different knowing that Jesus was going to be physically spending it with you
rather than knowing He is there and not seeing Him. Then discuss what changes
you need to make to ensure you do not shut Him out of your day. Then challenge
each other to make a point to welcome Him to be a part of it.
