BIBLE READING:  1 Corinthians 10:1-22

One of the biggest mistakes that a Christian can make is to underestimate their own sinful passions. For instance, how many of us have said that we're too strong to fall into a particular trap, or that we know better than to give into a particular temptation? The truth is most people usually are not ignorant of what they are doing when they begin doing it. They just believe that they are too strong to allow it to overtake them. WRONG!

When we look within the Scriptures, we are constantly seeing strong leaders in God’s movement failing: David with Bathsheba, Solomon and all of his women, Peter and his denial. Even the strongest of the strong can fall. Sin is a very powerful thing that can seize control of our thoughts, words and actions before we are even aware of it.

Application: So do yourself a favor; never, never, never underestimate your own sinful passions. “Therefore let  anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall” (1   Corinthians 10:12).
