BIBLE READING:  Psalm 11.1-7

MAIN IDEA:  “PRAISE PREPARATION”

I recall as a child in Sunday school class singing the song:

“The Lord is in His holy Temple.  Let all the earth keep silent before Him…Keep silent…. keep silent…keep silent before Him”

I think that was one of those songs that the teacher could use to try to get us quiet in class. Nevertheless, the statement is true, but where is this temple?  Many people believe that this use of the word is describing God’s heavenly home, or the actual temple that would be built during the reign of Solomon.  However, for us as Christians today this phase takes on a whole new meaning.  Paul said “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.” (I Corinthians 3.16-17) Isn’t that hard to believe!  I mean just think for a moment…Jehovah God, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe…decides to take up His residence within us!  I don’t know about you, but understanding that makes it very difficult to keep silent!

APPLICATION:
Think about how dirty your temple (your body) was before God came to live within you. What changes did He make and what changes do we need to make to keep His temple …His temple.
