Woodlawn Family Bible Study

MONDAY

BIBLE READING:  Matthew 6:14 & Ephesians 4:32

MAIN IDEA: Is it important to forgive someone who has wronged us?

“FORGIVENESS”

DISCUSSION
God made it very clear that He expects us to forgive as He has forgiven us. Why?  God knows us, He made us. We harm ourselves mentally and physically with resentment for some wrong that has been done to us.  God knows that being able to forgive not only is a measure of self-control and your desire to please Him, it also makes you a better person physically and mentally.  There is a saying that, not being able to forgive is like a person who has been wronged drinking poison and waiting on the person who did wrong against them to die.  Doesn’t make much sense, does it?  Yet how many of us feel like we can’t forgive or don’t want to forgive someone who has wronged us?  The resentment within you, against someone else, doesn’t cause anyone as much grief as it does you.  Forgiving someone isn’t saying they did nothing wrong – it is saying I forgive you of this wrong.  I am not going to dwell on this or hold resentment anymore toward you for what you did.

APPLICATION
Discuss who forgiveness is for.
